My love of working with my hands is something I picked up from my father. As well, early in my life, my mother noticed I had an ability to do very delicate things, and she encouraged me, while suggesting I might one day become a surgeon. She said it often enough, that I took it seriously. Many years later, after finally completing my pre-medical school studies, I decided that was not how I was meant to express this ability. I changed direction, and tried photography, pottery, and then, sculpture.

A) I love the feel of polished soapstone,
and made pipes that worked well, and
felt good in the hand. (soapstone, brass)

B) This pipe has a mauve stained glass
window, filled in with clear resin that
magnifies and projects like a lens, the
light of a match in the bowl. (soapstone,
    stained glass, resin, wood)

C) Soapstone, and oh so sensuous to touch..

D) This hookah symbolizes
    friendship, suggesting four
    people holding hands around
    the bowl. The mouthpiece is
shaped like a nipple on a
    breast. (soapstone, jug,
    velvet)

E) A stylized ear with
    devilish  overtones.
    (soapstone)

F) " Desire, 1970 "; Bone, resin,
     polished agate, bass
     guitar sting.

G) " Fragment of a Winter's Day With Paula, 1971 ". Plaster.

G) " Desire, 1970 ". The winged female element
is moveable, while the male element, of polished
hard dark soapstone, is rooted.

H) Here's a friendly-looking little fellow,
I made, " Wasp, 1972 ". Polished dark
soapstone body, resin wings, on a
skull found under someone's house
in Montreal
