'This substantial work took me just over two years to complete, starting in 1971, working six hours a day, 5 days a week. Every single hole is sanded and polished smooth on the inside, where it is also bigger than it's opening would suggest. The sculpture is meant to be understood by exploring its surfaces - feeling its smooth contours, most especially the various craters. This sculpture is based on the idea of organic consciousness.
